Piermont Timber Frame

Housewright Construction teamed with Bensonwood two decades ago to build this beautiful Douglas Fir timber frame home. This project posed several significant challenges, starting with its very rural location at the end of a mile-long driveway. The site itself was steep, small (making very tight quarters for men and machinery to maneuver efficiently) and needed to be blasted to set the foundation. Until the power could be brought up to the site (a mile of poles and electric line needed to be run), the job was reliant on generators for all of its electrical needs. A number of large (and heavy!) insulated glass window panels had to be carefully hoisted into place and glazed into the prepared frame. Those windows provide the owners with lovely long range local views (including Peaked Mountain in Piermont, New Hampshire), gorgeous sunsets and sparkling starry night skies. This home is as spectacular today as it was when it was first built and stands as a testament to the elegant and classic timber frame style of construction.
