Fourth Housewright Employee Graduates FLiC
Housewright's FLiC graduates (L to R): Craig Hervey, Dan Bartlett, Charlie Chandler. Jeff Page missing.
Housewright Construction, Inc. is proud to announce that Charles Chandler became the fourth Housewright employee to complete the Future Leaders in Construction (FLiC) Program. This eight month leadership program is offered by the New Hampshire and Vermont Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) through their partnership with the Vermont Technical College Office of Continuing Education & Workforce Development. Charlie will graduate in July. Our previous graduates include Craig Hervey and Jeff Page (2016) and Dan Bartlett (2017).
The interactive format of FLiC is designed to develop and promote results-oriented leadership among the emerging leaders of construction companies and the industry as a whole. Some of the key highlights of this program are one-on-one coaching, relationship building activities, and ROI projects. Students focus on improving their communications and listening skills. They also learn key fundamentals of how to be a leader instead of a manager, how to motivate others through effective coaching, how to manage multiple generations of employees, how to adapt to and deal with change, and how to maintain a positive attitude and promote it within their organization.
Our graduates agree that they had to step outside their usual comfort zones while attending the FLiC classes, but in return they gained valuable new skills, a greater self-understanding, and a broader perspective on leadership and management practices that they use on the job and in their personal lives every day. Perhaps Housewright Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Page, summed it up best: “My first day at the FLiC class I thought ... that this was a waste of time and a little touchy-feely for me. I soon realized how much it had to offer: how to stay calm in situations, how to communicate better, and how to listen to people effectively. It helped me become a leader rather than just a manager. I think this class was great and it helped me both professionally and personally by applying what I learned in every aspect of my life. I would recommend this class to anyone.”
